Kedarnath temple is one of the sacred pilgrimage centers in Northern India, located on the bank of Mandakini River at an altitude of 3584 meters above sea level. The historical name of this region is “Kedar Khand”. Kedarnath temple is a part of Char Dhams and Panch Kedar in Uttarakhand and one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva in India.

Kedarnath is flanked by breathtaking snow-capped peaks, making it the most remote site among all four Char Dham sites. But each year the followers of Lord Shiva visit this holy temple. The scenic beauty of Kedarnath town attracts lots of tourists from all over the world.

Itinerary Details

Day 1 – Haridwar – Guptakashi

From Haridwar, it takes almost 5 hours to reach Guptakashi. Just as you reach the destination, check-in at the hotel. In order to continue the yatra, you would be required to undertake the medical checkup and get the medical procedures done by the end of the day.

Day 2 – Guptakashi – Gaurikund – Kedarnath

Take the early morning drive to Gaurikund which is around 33 km from Guptakashi. Just after your breakfast, start on with the trek to the sacred Kedarnath. This 12 km trek can also be covered by taking Doli or a hired house.

Moving forward, you will come across river Mandakini, which is one of the main tributaries of the Ganges that arises from Kedarnath and runs through Gauri Kund. Chant Jai Bhole Nath along with the fellow pilgrims and walk down the rough terrains to Kedarnath, followed by the overnight stay at Government camps/lodges at Kedarnath.

Day 3 – Kedarnath – Gaurikund – Guptakashi

Before dawn, visit the temple of Lord Shiva at Kedarnath for the special puja. The sacred deity is placed inside the sanctum of the temple. Post darshan, return to the camps/lodges. From here, start your return journey, back to Gauri Kund. On completing the trek to Gauri Kund, you will be escorted to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 – Guptakashi – Rishikesh – Haridwar

Post breakfast, move to the Rishikesh. On reaching, visit the famous Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula and various other attractions of Rishikesh. In the evening, drive back to Haridwar for your further journey.

Helicopter Charges:

Phata – Kedarnath- Phata return fare @ INR 8500 per person (Subject to change)
As per the policy of Helicopter service providers only 3 Kg of handbag is allowed and full fare would be charged from children 3 years & above of age.
For same day return trip report time at helipad is 0700 Hrs and for overnight passengers is 0930 hrs.
Passengers would be given 1-2 Hours for darshan and one can avail priority darshan tickets upon arrival in Kedarnath which are available only for Helicopter passengers.
