It was in a span of time that the people who lived in Shirdi and far off realized that this man, the Sai Baba of Shirdi, was just not an ordinary individual but surely an incarnation of the ultimate being. The Miracles of Shirdi Sai Baba are plentiful. He, during the course of his life proved it to the people that he was sent down to earth with a purpose to help people and protect them . The knowledge that he imparted was divine but at the same time he stooped down and made it clear for his devotees. His miracles were infact varied and stunning during his life time.
Shirdi Sai Baba Miracles:
Shirdi Sai Baba was very well fond of lighting lamps and would always make it a point to do so in the Majid and other temples everyday in the evening. Initially he asked the grocers to donate some oil to him so that he could light the lamp. While in the beginning they were kind, there reached a point where they refused to do so and they all bluntly refused saying that they do not have fresh stock. Baba was extremely hurt by this response but he still went to the temple and lit the lamp not with oil but with water. To his surprise the lamp burnt the whole night . This came into the notice of the grocers who went and apologized to Baba and Baba responded by saying that never lie . Maybe you could have refused but do not lie saying that you do not have stock. He was extremely polite to them but made sure the message got conveyed.
Shirdi is a place which gets terribly hot during the summers. One needs to be there to really experience it. According to them once the harvesting is done the food grains are stored in a yard. One afternoon Baba called one of this village man and told him that very soon the entire yard will be on fire. The man along with his other friends ran to the yard and looked out everywhere and came back bewildered saying that nothing of that sort has happened. Baba said look back again and you will see and to his astonishment a sheaf of corn was on fire and smoke was coming out from it. A strong wind was fanning the fire. The farmers started panicking and were completely anxious. Baba quietly walked towards the yard and sprinkled a few drops and water and said it’ ll be gone in no time. And true to his words the fire was gone and everything looked perfectly normal like before.
Another story of the miracle of this powerful man goes like this. One day a couple had come to meet Baba to get his blessings. After meeting Baba they were about to leave back home when it suddenly started pouring along with thundering and lightening. The couple looked extremely dismayed. Baba saw their sad face and said oh lord stop the rain and allow my children to go back to their home peacefully. And in no time the downpour reduced to just drizzle and the couple could reach their place safely.
Shirdi was not a well developed area. Even for water they had to travel a long distance to fetch it. Though they had a well for namesake not even a drop of water was present in it. One such day the villagers wanted to celebrate Ram Navami fair but they all looked worried and sad. When Baba asked what happened they said that they dint have a drop of water and because of which they would have to cancel the celebrations. Baba looked into their desperate eyes for a minute and gave them a platter that was filled with water with a little Prasad on top of it and asked them to put the platter in the well .They obeyed whatever Baba said and to their surprise in no time the entire well was filled with water and even their hearts were filled with joy. Such was the power of Baba.
It so happened that in a village there was this 3 year old who kept telling everyone that she is Baba ‘s sister. One fine day while she was playing with her friends she fell into the well. When people gathered to help this drowning girl to their astonishment they saw her being suspended in mid air as though someone was holding her up. Though people dint have any clear cut explanation all they said was it was Baba’s leela.
On a festive occasion one of the villager who was not a staunch believer of Baba decided to go to Singba on the bank of the river Godavari to take a bath in the holy water. On asking Baba if he could go so Baba was not happy with his idea and told him that Godavari river is right at his feet. The villager looked a little perplexed and thought the holy river Ganga arose from the feet of lord Vishnu the almighty but how can it from Baba s feet who is just an ordinary man. Baba could read his mind and wanted to enhance and strengthen his belief and told him to cup his palm and place it below his feet. In no time his palm was filled with water and was over flowing. Tears stared rolling from the villager’s eye and he quickly sprinkled the water on his head and body and gave it to the other villagers as Theertha.
This incident happened to a young couple who were going for their morning walk. It was pitch dark. Suddenly two men who were in a bike stopped by ,pointed a knife at the woman and tried to snatch her chain. The husband was totally perplexed and yelled Sai Ram Sai Ram Sai Ram. Due to the noise made the lights were switched on in one house and the two men started panicking and immediately got back into their bike without hurting or snatching the chain. The inmates of that house took the couple to their house and to their surprise they saw a picture of Baba and it said” why fear when I am here.”
Another experience of a parent who got back their life again goes like this. One day their one and only son was extremely sick and so they took him to a hospital . He was advised to do a few blood tests. The doctor examined the reports and told him to start on antibiotics and review after a week with a repeat blood test. After one week the blood test were repeated and the doctor had a look at it. He gave the parents a worried look and told them that their son has leukemia – blood cancer. The parents were shattered. The whole night they prayed and kept chanting Sai Ram Sai Ram. The next day they put Baba’s Udhi on their son’s forehead and took him to another better hospital as advised by their doctor. The blood test were repeated again and to their surprise the doctor said he has only anaemia and just needs to take certain iron supplements. Such is the power of Baba and Baba is known to have a special affection for the little ones.
It is said that Baba’s Udhi is extremely powerful with a lot of curative values and can do a lot of miracles. Hearing this one such lady sent a mail to Baba’s ashram site requesting for some Udhi as she kept falling sick. She kept checking her letter box but later felt that maybe it was only meant for the people who did not have much access to come down and meet him and felt that may Baba really needed her to go and meet him personally. She was quite depressed but eventually forgot about it. One fine day when she checked her letterbox she found a letter from Baba’s ashram and when she opened it to her surprise it was Baba’ s Udhi. She was overjoyed to have known that Baba had responded to her mail and had blessed her.
Thus the Shirdi Sai Movement began in the 19th century where initially he had only a very few group of people,but by the 20th century his message started reaching the whole of India. The famous book called the Shri Sai Satcharitra written by Hemadpant considers him as an incarnation of lord Krishna. While some even considers him as an incarnation of lord Dattatreya. The Shirdi Sai Movement is one of the popular and well accepted Hindu religious movements.
